Hawaiian Modern

The starting point for this project was a 3/4 acre lot with an existing home, pool and mature vegetation throughout. The existing structure was updated and maintained as an ADU while a new single-story residence with detached garage was placed at the heart of the property. Inspiration gleaned from trips to Hawaii set the trajectory toward a modern residence which incorporated the best of tropical vernacular — a steep vaulted roof, deep overhangs, and warm wood siding. The end result is a finely crafted, yet comfortable home. The living experience is decidedly modern, yet nothing feels untouchable. It’s a home that’s meant to be enjoyed and lived in.
