ABOUT JEAN-LOUIS COQUEREAU ARCHITECT

For more than forty years and with the help of many talented young architects, I have practiced architecture in San Diego with a simple conviction: thoughtful design can quietly improve daily life. Over the decades, I have worked on a wide range of residential and small commercial projects, always with an emphasis on clarity, durability, and a deep respect for the people who inhabit the spaces we create.
After closing my office at the end of 2024, I entered a new chapter of my professional life. I continue to work part-time as an independent architect and consultant—focusing on select projects, providing guidance to homeowners, and sharing the insights accumulated throughout a long and rewarding career. Semi-retirement gives me the freedom to be more intentional: to choose work that is meaningful, collaborative, and aligned with my values. Alongside architecture,
I am developing a new personal initiative called “What If?”—a project dedicated to exploring how imagination
